Gakken amplifier kit brings vacuum tubes to your iPodGakken's no stranger to build-it-yourself retro audio gear, and it now looks to be trying to bring some of its old school ways to your iPod with its new Vacuum Tube Amplifier kit. As you can see above, however, while the company is apparently pitching it as an iPod dock of sorts (like we've seen before), it'll also work just as well with any other audio device, as it relies on nothing more than a headphone jack to hook things up. Of course, you'll only be able to do that after you put the kit together, but judging from the number of parts that doesn't look to be too daunting a task, and at about US$150, it's not all that unreasonably priced either (the shipping from Korea could be another matter though). |

Sony announces the creatively-named PSP CradleIt's been a while since the PSP Slim got all up on your TV, but Sony wasn't going to leave you hanging forever without a slick docking solution -- say hola to the new PSP Cradle. Apart from some of that old-time Sony design flair, there's not much else to it: you dock your PSP, images show up on your TV, and you control things with the included remote. On sale April 24th in Japan for ¥4,800 (US$46), or ¥6,500 (US$62) bundled with a D Terminal AV cable. |

Fujitsu's LifeBook P8010 gets reviewedBelieve it or not, it wasn't even two months ago that we laid hands on the up and coming Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 at CES, and shortly after becoming available to the masses, PC Magazine has rounded one up for review. Right out of the box, the unit was praised for feeling oh-so-light (2.8-pounds, for those counting) and including a built-in optical drive. Unfortunately, such a small footprint left little room for a full-fledged keyboard, and besides feeling "cramped," performance was nothing to write home about either. Granted, it did boast fairly impressive battery life, but given the heightened competition in the ultraportable area of late, these editors were forced to hand out a 3 out of 5 rating and wish that the P8010 came in at a lower price point. |
